Welcome to darkness.
Blackwater is a term used for a type of scuba diving, Blackwater Diving. A Blackwater dive is when you go diving in total darkness and are hovering in several hundred feet of water. Nothing but the darkness of the night sky above you and the darkness of the abyss below. We do these dives to find what inhabits the abyss. Each night one of the largest migrations of micro-organisms occurs. The Diurnal Migration. These strange looking creatures come up from the depths to feed in shallower water. This is when we get the chance to photograph these spectacular specimens which are no larger than your thumbnail and or much smaller.
